Star Citizen State Of The Game Alpha 3.24 – Big Cargo Big Changes!

Welcome to a Star Citizen State Of The Game For Alpha 3.24… We are going to be looking at what’s going on with that patch, the latest updates and why it’s effectively been delayed a bit.

Alpha 3.24 is Still in Evocati… it’s been a surprisingly long evo cycle in fact for what is effectively some features that weren’t quite ready for 3.23s release.

However due to the important of these features and the substantial change to cargo, inventory and management it’s become it’s own 3.24 patch…

Big Cargo Big Changes!

CIG put out a message on their spectrum chat:

We are currently putting together a new 3.24 build for release to Evocati today (which is now yesterday). This build will have all the work in for Persistent hangars so we will have extra focus for hangar persistence for switching shards and crash recovery. We currently have a goal for another RMQ test later this week with the issues resolved from the previous test. Audience for this Tech-Preview will depend on the current Wave as we are still looking to open up Wave 1 asap.

Now the RMQ tests which are an updated Network Message Queue ready for 4.0 / SM / better optimized netcode BUT it’s being tested on the 3.24 branch.

CIG look confident now to open 3.24 to a wider ptu audience ASAP for both those tests it seems, if it’s wave 1 on the Tech Preview I mean it’s a 3.24 build so it has to be at least wave 1 on the PTU branch RIGHT? Maybe?. BUT you can very much expect lots of 4.0 / 4.0 adjacent testing over the coming weeks.

For tonight’s publish, Please everyone set your initial spawn to Area18 for the first couple hours for stress testing! 

Persistent Hangars – Completed work for Shard Stowing of Persistent Hangars. This will allow personal hangars to save their state when moving between shards and crash recoveries.

Increased the grace period that players are allowed to tow an owned vehicle to 10 seconds before they receive a Crime Stat in order to allow them to remove blockages.

  • Fixed – PU – Hangar/teleportation – After a player in a ship flies or quantum jumps an impound/teleportation event occurs without a fine and returns the player to an ASOP lobby (STARC-120436)
  • Fixed – PU – Stanton – ATC / Hangars – ATC Gateway queue message will stack on players in the same instanced hangar trapping players in hangar (STARC-119660)
  • Fixed – PU – Personal Hangar – instance transition – Transition between instance hangar and PU is out of order Stations and rest of PU are out of sync (STARC-120102)
  • Fixed – Stanton – Shopping / Selling – Cargo – Unable to sell from an Auto-Load order (STARC-119391)
  • Fixed – PU – Stanton – Locations / Transit – Instanced Hangars / Personal Hangars – Render Culling – Camera cannot see elevator zone / visarea issues inside elevators (STARC-118748) (Fixed everywhere but Lorville)
  • Fixed – Multivehicle – PU – Vehicles – When docking or retrieving a ship to a docking port at a station, the docking arm will not extend (STARC-86292)
  • Fixed – PU – Locations – Orison / Lorville / Area18 – UI – Elevators / Transit / Hangars – Too long of names and Extra Large Hangars text will overlap its intended UI space for the Elevator panel when calling for a Hangar
  • Fixed – PU – Actor – Interactions Network Optimization – Doors – Automatic doors fail to open when in proximity (STARC-119340)
  • Fixed – PU – Locations – Outposts – Freight Elevator – Tractor beam is not usable inside the freight elevator area (STARC-119105)
  • Fixed – PU – Multiweapon – Backpack Reloading – Sometimes weapons fail to reload if reloaded from Backpack (STARC-112052)
  • FIxed – PU – Menu – Party Launch Failed: Server Full Error appears for large parties (STARC-103898)
  • Fixed – Anvil Valkyrie – PU – Vehicles / Components – Turrets / UI – mobiGlas – VMA – The S3 nose turret on the Valkyrie still restricts to S2 guns despite having S3 guns equipped by default (STARC-116640)
  • Fixed – PU – Stanton – RSI Constellation Series – Vehicles / Docking – Snub Fighter cannot request docking clearance (STARC-86519)
  • Fixed – PU – UI – Social – HUD – Visor & Lens – Direct Message Chats after Player calls cannot be deleted (STARC-93231)
  • Fixed – PU – Missions – Cargo Hauling – UI / HUD – The Objective UI appears twice when the mission is accepted
  • Fixed – Manticore Helmet – PU – Actor / Armor – Manticore Helmet grants additional equipment slots (STARC-115593)
  • Fixed 10 Client, 2 Server and a Hybrid Crash

Known Issues

Please avoid Lorville in this publish due to large visarea issues around elevators

  • PU – UI – Item Bank / Storage Access – Search – The search bar button in the Item Bank terminal does not function when selected
  • PU – New Babbage – Hangar Elevator – Party leader’s hangar is the only option that appears in a hangar elevator’s floor selection, even if a member has a ship retrieved in their hangar
  • PU – UI – Kiosks / Terminals – Global Chat – Pressing Enter when interacting with any terminal opens the Global Chat causing player to lose game interaction
  • PU – Stanton – GrimHEX – Locations – Transit – Hangar Elevators – Hangar Instance elevators can be called and arrive at the current floor but the doors do not open
  • PU – Stanton – Locations / Vehicles / ATC – Ground Vehicles do not spawn at the allocated garage location
  • Stanton – Locations / Performance – Item Bank / Freight Elevator – Frame rate will dramatically drop if players own many items
  • PU – Stanton – ASOP / Locations – Retrieving a Hull C at locations without a docking port will display ‘unable to handle your request at this time’
  • PU – Stanton – ASOP / Fleet Manager / UI – ASOP Terminals fade to black when accessed after delivering a vehicle
  • PU – Stanton – Security Post Kareah – Locations / AI – AI are missing inside of Kareah, only outside Guard AI spawn
  • PU – FOIP / VOIP – Audio – Players cannot hear other players through any audio channel
  • Turrets can get stuck firing nowhere near their target
  • PU – Stanton – Multiple Locations – Transit / Network – Transit will intermittently desync off course
  • PU – Hostility not being wiped by QT
  • PU – Derelict settlements – Locations / AI / Spawn Closets – AI do not move after spawning
  • Robert Space Industries – PU – Vehicles/EMP – unable to activate EMP
  • PU – HUD – Vehicle – Ship warning/alert text is very small and can be difficult to read
  • PU – Multiweapon – Backpack Reloading – Sometimes weapons fail to reload if reloaded from Backpack
  • PU – Multiweapon – Graphics – Backpack Reloading – Weapons reload invisible magazine when reloading from backpack
  • PU – Multivehicle – Quantum Travel / mobiGlas / Starmap – Unable to use plotted route to planetside location while in planet orbit
  • PU – Missions / AI – Repel Raid on Orison – Combat AI are not spawning and automatically is failed
  • Multivehicle – Vehicles – G-force induced head movement is excessive
  • PU – Actor / UI / Locations – Area18 / MobiGlas / Map – Various parts of Area18 Central can’t be routed to via mobiGlas Map based on player location

Biggest Issues with the patch really are UI clunky-ness.

No real mega blockers from what I can see at a glance.

There is an audio overlay issue around hangars.
