Star Citizen Coming Up This Week August 13th 2024

Welcome to some more This Week In Star Citizen… What has CIG got planned this week in terms of updates, events and releases as well as where are we with the Alpha 3.24 Cargo Patch?

This Week In Star Citizen

Phase 1 of Ship Showdown wraps up this week, and your submissions have been truly legendary. From stunning model builds and captivating paintings to hype videos and even inventive food creations, the feeds have been overflowing with creativity. We’re now narrowing down to the top sixteen vehicles as we gear up for Phase 2. And don’t forget: the Sweet Sixteen will be available to fly for FREE from August 15 to August 22. Is this a freefly for everyone OR just players with access?

We’re thrilled to share that later this week we’ll be bringing back a small wave of CitizenCon General Admission tickets. These will be very limited and will likely go fast. So, if you’re out there kicking yourself for not getting a ticket sooner, this will be your chance to pick one up and join us in Manchester in October (19/20th). Keep an eye on Spectrum for an announcement on the exact day and time these tickets will be restocked! (I believe this is due to refunds/cancellations) it’s only going to be a few.

There is Bar Citizens going on all week in Manchester during CitizenCon, I also suspect there will be loads all over the world / watch parties ect.. too.

Speaking of CitizenCon, applications for the Cosplay Contest are still open! If you’re planning on coming to CitizenCon in costume, be sure to check out the contest and apply for a chance to win some awesome prizes. Head over to the Spectrum Announcement for more information and get your submissions in before applications close on September 27.

Now, let’s see what’s going on this week:

This Tuesday, the Narrative Team will publish the Whitley’s Guide on the Cutlass Red, first appearing in Jump Point magazine. Developed to counter Drake’s reputation as an outlaw brand, the Cutlass Red proved its value as a medical ship almost immediately during an unexpected tragedy on Corel.

Wednesday has last week’s Squadron 42 Monthly Report newsletter reposted as a Comm-Link.

Thursday’s Inside Star Citizen takes a trip down to the surface of Pyro’s planets and moons to explore the non-combat aspects of life in our next star system, as well as a chance to meet two factions just trying to make their ways through the ‘verse, the Citizens for Prosperity and Headhunters.

Thursday also kicks off Phase 2 of Ship Showdown, complete with the Sweet Sixteen Free Fly! Make sure you check back every day to vote your favorite vehicles to victory!

Friday, Star Citizen Live is a Q&A with the Frankfurt Level Design team about Contested Zones and Asteroid Bases. You can submit your questions on Spectrum and tune on the twitch.tv/starcitizen at 3 PM UTC.

Will asteroid bases come to the Aaron Halo and other places around Stanton as well?

Will there be asteroid bases without enemy NPCs for non-violent gameplay as well? E.g. scavenging, environmental puzzles, rescue-missions, finding missing people … essentially, will there be something to do for players who want to do peaceful missions too?

How does the meat grinding aspect of the contested zones align with Death of a Spaceman? I assume the rewards have to be good enough to be worth the risk.

I know you don’t want to spoil but can you give us some hints about what types of rewards we can expect to find in Contested Zones and Asteroid Bases ?

Are there plans/does the toolset allow for creation of non derelict Asteroid Bases? Whether functional and productive like could be seen in a system like Stanton or abandoned but inhabited by say, the Moraine, like maybe in Nyx?

Is the old plan of allowing players to have their own asteroid hangars still on CIG’s backlog?

How is death of a spaceman connected to contested zones? It seems like dying might not be that big of an issue anymore?

what is being done to avoid bottlenecks and other obvious camping spots that negatively affect player experience?

Saturday has a pair of community competitions you’ll not want to miss. XGR continues the Neno Cup with Day 2 of racing across mulitple categories in this exhibition race event, starting at 4 PM UTC on the XGR Twitch Channel.

If combat is more your speed, the ATMO esports 2v2 flight PVP tournament, Fight or Flight, begins at 4 PM UTC with a new regional format. Check out the action on their Twitch channel.

Star Citizen Alpha 3.24.0 PTU.9278907

Patch Update Fixed a ton of issues

  • Local area being missing atmosphere after Server Recovery.
  • When using the elevator taking you to the wrong hangar.
  • The cargo grid of the Aurora was very difficult to use.
  • Players can now retrieve and spawn vehicles properly in their hangar
  • Attempting to withdraw items from storage kiosks resulted in infinite load

Still Wave 1 – BUT Wave 2 & Wider PTU ASAP

Blockade Runner will not be run in tonight’s build while we focus on further update and fixes to the global mission.

Need To Re-Run Blockade Runner (After Fixes)

Was Bit too unstable for me to complete a run
There is still much to do with the patch BUT I think we could still be on track for an end of August Live Release.
