Star Citizen Alpha 3.24 Close To Live Release – No Wipe Confirmed – Fixes & Updates

Hello & Welcome to some more Star Citizen – we have a load of Alpha 3.24 Updates…

Star Citizen Alpha 3.24 is now basically Confirmed to have NO WIPE with CIG Saying:

3.24 won’t see any wipe of your progression, but the usual: medpens, refinery jobs, ammo… consumables.

That would seem to suggest aUEC, assets & rep will carry over. I had through after seeing so many issues with cargo and the backend that they would have to wipe for this patch BUT it appears that is now very unlikely. Never say never tho, if CIG need to they still could.

I would however put money on wipe being needed for when Alpha 4.0 releases (hopefully) later this year.

Alpha 3.24 Update there were a couple of patches over the last few days:

One of the major Focuses of the patch on the 21st August was:

Potentially Fixing Planetary Rocks and Asteroids becoming invisible and causing player collision and explosions.

Sneaky ghost rocks had been plaguing the game for a while and hopefully this is now solved.

Blockade Runner was running (in that build we will discuss) and with massively reduced completion requirements so it can actually be completed by a single person.

This is to “fruit fly” it I would assume (running it quickly multiple times to completion)

  • Added many new Cargo Hauling Rentals to all Rental Shops (except Vulture for now)
  • We are expecting a few more little tweaks to the patch and a new ship to turn up.
  • Also I would expect some more ships/vehicles to turn up in the shops that being the Firebird, MPUV-T1, Ursa Medivac & Mirai Pule Series.

There are a load of other bug fixes here too

  • Hangar Doors should open properly and hangars should “stow” / load correctly as well as ships in them.
  • They’ve fixed some extreme memory usage / leaks
  • Cargo Mission offerings below rank 4 of hauling career could force players to accept boxes 16 SCU and up, blocking early freight ships from completion, that no longer happens.
  • You should be able to consistently use rearm, repair and refuel services.
  • Freight Manager kiosks were getting broken while loading also moving cargo between hangar and elevator could see the cargo being lost.
  • Kopion Horn sell prices were lower than intended, so they should of raised those.
  • Fixed 5 Client 4 Server & a Hybrid Service Crash

Alpha 3.24 PTU 22nd August 2024

They aren’t running Blockade Runner with this build, I would expect them to be getting what may potentially be another set of fixes and optimizations in before one last test and then live.

  • Added final polish rental hauling ships to Cargo Decks, New Babbage, and Orison
  • Ground Vehicles Physics Improvements Polish to help with movement and tractor beaming

There were a load more bug fixes here:

  • Freight elevators at scrapyards no have cargo grids
  • Exploits with external vehicle storage.
  • Other peoples hangars appearing and overlapping on the minimap
  • Various Ship Fixes
  • More Docking Collar Fixes

In this build we’ve made further updates to reduce “personal hangars leaking” and spamming entities throughout the rest of the PU. This should help greatly reduce large amounts of entities and help with performance. Including helping with items clipping through the floor.

  • Fixed 1 Client Crash
  • Fixed 3 Server Crashes

There are still some Known issues that are trying to be resolve ahead of a live build:

  • Opening the Storage Access Kiosk will cover the player’s POV, so you have to move the camera.
  • Some issues with quick buying at certain locations.
  • When dragging armor from your inventory onto your character, it creates a box beneath you that can cause jumping and clipping through the world
  • Players cannot hear other players through any audio channel
  • Turrets can get stuck firing nowhere near their target
  • Transit will intermittently desync off course – The Janky Trains and this is probably the 2nd biggest Issue I have…
  • Hostility not being wiped by QTing
  • Escort beacons are not visible to other players
  • AI do not move after spawning – again quite a big one.
  • Some UI issues & with the starmap / minimap

My main issue is with desync / interaction delay still… Tho it appears to be a magnitude better (at least for me) with the latest build.

If they can get that in a reasonable state, the janky trains sorted and AI/NPC issues solved I think we will have our release candidate for 3.24 live… which I am personally expecting end of next week…

There is a lot of chatter about item banks… people preferring what we had earlier in the tests. But I prefer something short term functional and then they can update them. Happy for them to go back to the earlier version with some tweaks OR for them to rework them… whatever is sensible BUT short term get them functional. That’s my POV anyway. However the discussion about them is fine.
